Modernising an extensive existing roof structure

The existing roof included extensive steel structures and reinforced glass elements that required complete dismantling and removal as part of the refurbishment. The challenge was to replace the existing rooflight structures with a modern, large-scale daylighting system, while coordinating the removal of approximately 65 tonnes of steel and 54 tonnes of reinforced glass. The renovated roof also needed to provide a practical ventilation function through integrated ventilation flaps.

A complete roof refurbishment and daylighting upgrade

AWAK carried out a comprehensive roof renovation, from the dismantling and removal of the existing structures to the supply and installation of a new continuous rooflight system.

From existing roof structures to a modern daylighting system.

The completed refurbishment replaced the extensive existing steel and reinforced glass roof structures with approximately 2 200 m² of new continuous rooflights, complemented by 20 ventilation flaps 230 V AC.
The project transformed the existing roof into a modern daylighting and ventilation solution, while demonstrating AWAK’s ability to manage large-scale roof refurbishment projects from dismantling and removal through to the installation of the new system.
