Rooflight with Ventilation Function

The AWAK openable roof skylight combines natural daylighting and daily gravity ventilation in a single roof opening, utilizing a segment that opens manually or via an electric actuator. Designed for flat roofs with a pitch of up to 15°, it is manufactured in dimensions ranging from 600 × 600 mm to 2000 × 3000 mm, with a thermal transmittance coefficient of 1.1-2.5 W/m²K and resistance classes DL 750, UL 1500, and SB 300-1200. The skylight complies with the EN 1873 standard. It is used in production halls, warehouses, logistics centers, and sports facilities, where it reduces energy consumption for lighting.

Product Characteristics

Two functions in one roof opening

The openable segment provides comfortable, uniform natural daylighting as well as natural air exchange-without the need for a separate ventilation opening in the roof slope.

Steel or PVC base

Available with galvanized steel or PVC bases with a minimum thickness of 1.25 mm and a height of 150-750 mm (standard 150, 350, 500, and 750 mm), which requires insulation, or a PVC base with a height of 150-300 mm made entirely of insulating material. Geometry variants: straight, straight-slanted, and slanted.

Wide range of cover options

Selected for daylighting and fire protection requirements - multi-wall polycarbonate 10, 16, 20, or 25 mm with a UV coating, NRO Kera Fire Protect panel 21, 27, or 33 mm in the BROOF(t1) fire resistance class, or domes made of acrylic or solid polycarbonate. Transparency: clear or opal covers; optional Solar Control coating which limits the heating of the hall in summer.

Openable segment on an aluminum frame

An aluminum frame with perimeter seals, in which the polycarbonate or acrylic cover is mounted-a structure resistant to multiple opening cycles and maintaining the tightness of the connection with the base.

Three opening variants

Manual spindle operation with a stroke of 300 mm, 230 V electric actuator with a spindle stroke of 300 or 500 mm, or a 24 V actuator. For large skylight dimensions, a tandem of actuators is used.

Confirmed technical parameters

DL 750 - resistance to downward load up to 750 N/m²; UL 1500 - resistance to upward load up to 1500 N/m²; SB 300-1200 - resistance to soft body impact with an energy of 300 to 1200 J; thermal transmittance coefficient 1.1-2.5 W/m²K depending on the cover and base variant.

Safety and equipment options

all protection grids, insect screens, fall protection anchor points, and painting of the inside of the base in any RAL color.

Manufacturer support and warranty

Up to a 10-year warranty on the polycarbonate cover and tightness, 2-3 years on the actuators, design and optimization of solutions for a specific facility, and support with technical documentation.

Rooflight base:

  • Galvanized steel sheet can be additionally painted in any RAL color (basic colors: 9010, 9002, 9003). Base height adapted to the roof structure and technical requirements, from 150 to 750 mm. Standard heights: 150, 350, 500, 750 mm. Skylight bases consist of four segments joined together and require a support structure around the perimeter.

  • Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with a height of your choice: 200 mm for a straight base, 150 or 300 mm for a slanted base. The base of this material is made entirely of this material. Requires a support structure around the perimeter.

  • Type of bases: straight, straight-pine or
slanted

Cover:

  • Cellular polycarbonate (PC) – thickness of choice 10, 16, 20, 25 mm. The outer layer of polycarbonate covered with a coating containing a UV filter,

  • Fire retardant Kera Fire Protect fire retardant panel with fire reaction class BROOF(t1) - thicknesses of choice 21, 27, 33 mm,

  • Domes – single or multilayer, material of choice: acrylic / solid polycarbonate,

  • Translucency – klar (transparent) or opal (milky, standard for fire retardant Kera Fire Protect panels),

  • Solar Control – chambered polycarbonate covered with a special additional coating that allows to control the amount of solar radiation passing through the panel. As a result, rooms are better protected from excessive heat in the summer.

Clamping frame:

The bases have special cut-outs in the corners, which, after installation and machining of the base, allow free press-on installation of the so-called PVC "clamping" frame.

Tilting segment:

The tilting segment consists of a frame and a cover. Cover is made of cellular polycarbonate, solid polycarbonate or acrylic. Choose from two color options: transparent or milky. The surface can take the shape of a convex, dome-shaped (from acrylic or solid polycarbonate) and flat (from cellular polycarbonate). Rooflights made of cellular polycarbonate can come in fire retardant classification.

The frame is made of aluminum profile. It is protected around the perimeter with gaskets which prevents water from entering the rooflight.

Drive:

The following opening systems are used to open rooflights to ventilate rooms:

  • Manual screw opener (with detachable crank) with 300 mm spindle extension

  • Electric actuator 230V with spindle extension 300mm or 500mm

  • 24V electric actuator

  • We make rooflights in the range of (60-200)x(60x300) cm,

  • DL 750 - has a downward directed load resistance of up to 750N/m2,

  • UL 1500 - has an upward load resistance of up to 1500N/m2,

  • SB 300 - 1200 - shows resistance to impact with a large soft body,

  • 1.1-2.5W/m2K- heat transfer coefficient for the whole product. The coefficient depends on the choice of cover and base,

  • Cover made of cellular polycarbonate, Kera Firm Protest fire retardant panels and acrylic/polycarbonate dome (1-5 layers.

  • Possibility to equip the rooflight with an anti-fall grating or insect netting

  • Possibility of attaching anti-drop brackets to the rooflight

  • Possibility to use E30/EI30 baffle
