Single Leaf Smoke Vents

The AWAK single-leaf smoke vent is a certified natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilator designed to remove smoke and heat from buildings through a roof opening. It is suitable for flat roofs with a pitch of up to 15°. During a fire, the single openable leaf provides an effective smoke and heat exhaust opening. In the dual-function version, the vent can also be used for daily natural ventilation, allowing controlled air exchange during normal building operation. The vent is available in dimensions ranging from 1000 × 1000 mm to 2000 mm × 3000 mm, in AWAK P, S, P2, PS2, P2+W, and PS2+W configuratons. It can be equipped with either a 24 VDC electric actuator or a pneumatic actuator powered by CO₂ cartridges.


 The vent complies with the EN 12101-2:2003 standard (CE 1488-CPR-0042/W) and is available with the following declared performance classes: Re 1000, SL 250-900, WL 1500, and B 300/B 600. Selected configurations are suitable for production halls, warehouses, logistics centers, and shopping centers.

Single-leaf construction for effective smoke and heat extraction

Steel base adapted to the roof structure

Our segments of galvanized steel sheet with a minimum thickness of 1.25 mm, height from 300 to 1000 mm. Standard heights are 350, 500, and 750 mm. The base is available in straight variant for AWAK P, P2, and P2+W types, straight - slanted for PS2 and PS2+W, and slanted for AWAK S, selected according to the roof construction and pitch

Cover options for daylighting and fire protection

Multi-wall polycarbonate covers in 10, 16, 20, or 25 mm thickness, with an external UV coating, NRO Kera Fire Protect panel 21, 27, or 33 mm thickness in the BROOF(t1) fire resistance class, or single- and multi-layer domes made of acrylic or solid polycarbonate. Transparency: clear or opal covers can be selected according to the required daylighting effect, with optional Solar Control coating to reduce summer overheating.

Electric or pneumatic operation

Available with a 24 VDC electric actuator with a current consumption of 2.0 - 8.0 A, or a single- or double-acting pneumatic actuator powered by CO2 cartridges. The leaf reaches the fire position is under 60 seconds.

Confirmed performance according to EN 12101-2:2003

Declared performance classes include Re 1000 - for opening and closing cycles without loss of efficiency, SL 250/550/650/900 for reliability under snow load, T (00) for operation in facilities with temperatures from 0 °C; WL 1500 for resistance to wind load of 1500 Pa, and B 300/B 600 for resistance to temperatures of 300 °C and 600 °C. Declaration of Constancy of Performance with the CE mark 1488-CPR-0042/W.

Daily ventilation and roof hatch function

The dual-function version provides daily natural ventilation using the same 24 VDC actuator. With pneumatic control, an additional 230 VAC actuator or a double-acting actuator is installed. The AWAK P2+W and PS2+W versions   additionally serve as   roof access hatches, enabling access to the roof.

Elements increasing the aerodynamic free area

Wind deflector and a directional nozzle made of galvanized steel sheet increase the aerodynamic free area (active smoke exhaust area) of the vent, allowing the number of devices required in the fire scenario to be reduced.

Equipment options and fire protection system integration

Fall protection grids, painting of the inside of the base in RAL 9010, 9002, and 9003, and integration with a smoke control panel (Actulux, AFG), smoke detectors, and manual call points.

Manufacturer support and warranty

Up to a 10-year warranty on the polycarbonate cover and tightness, 2-3 years on the actuators, design and optimization of solutions for a specific facility, support with technical documentation, and advisory services at every stage of the investment.

Smoke damper base:

composed of four segments made of galvanized steel sheet with a thickness of min. 1.25 mm. Base height adapted to the roof structure and technical requirements, from 300 to 1000 mm. Standard heights: 350, 500, 750 mm. Smoke damper bases require a support structure around the perimeter.

Cover:

  • Cellular polycarbonate (PC) – thickness of choice 10, 16, 20, 25 mm. The outer layer of polycarbonate covered with a coating containing a UV filter;

  • Fire retardant Kera Fire Protect panel – BROOF(t1) class external fire retardant, selectable thicknesses of 21, 27, 33 mm;

  • Domes – single or multilayer, material of choice: acrylic / solid polycarbonate;

  • translucency – klar (transparent) or opal (milky, standard for fire retardant Kera Fire Protect panels);

  • Solar Control – chambered polycarbonate covered with a special additional coating that allows to control the amount of solar radiation passing through the panel.
    As a result, rooms are better protected from excessive heat in the summer.

Actuators:

Two types of actuators are used to open smoke dampers:

  • Electrical – 24 VDC with a current of 2.0 A to 8.0 A;

  • Pneumatic – one- or two-way actuators using CO2 cartridges. In the case of double-wing smoke dampers, two actuators are installed
(one per wing).

Smoke deflector:

An additional element that increases the smoke damper's active smoke extraction area, made of galvanized steel sheet.

Directional nozzle:

An additional element that increases the smoke damper's active smoke extraction area, made of sheet metal.

  • High values of smoke extraction parameters specified in the Deklar ation of Permanent Performance with CE mark 1488-CPR-0042/W according to EN 12101-2:2003;

  • Re 1000 - reliable operation during 1000 cycles of opening and closing the smoke damper sash to the fire position. This means 1000 times activation of the trigger system without loss of efficiency;

  • SL 250/SL 550/SL 650/SL 900 - reliable operation under load of 250 N/m2, 550 N/m2, 650 N/m2 or 900 N/m2 respectively, opening time less than 60 s.

  • T (00) - products of this class are considered suitable for use in building structures with temperatures higher than 0 °C;

  • WL 1500 - wind load resistance equal to 1,500 Pa, opening time less than 60 s;

  • B 300/B 600 - temperature resistance, respectively: 300 °C and 600 °C;

Additional options:

  • Ventilation - a ventilation system is additionally mounted to the dampers (dual function damper), which allows natural and economical ventilation of rooms on a daily basis. If the damper is equipped with an electric drive, the smoke extraction and ventilation function is operated by the same 24 VDC actuator, while in the case of pneumatic control of the system, an additional actuator powered by 230 VAC or a pneumatic actuator is installed. As a standard for a two-wing smoke damper, one actuator is used for the ventilation function (one of the wings is opened);

  • Roof hatch - a function that allows you to go to the roof surface;

  • Anti-drop grating;

  • The inner side of the base can be painted in any RAL color (standard: 9010, 9002 or 9003);

  • Retrofitting the smoke damper with a smoke and ventilation system, such as a smoke control unit (Actulux, AFG), smoke detectors, alarm buttons.
