AWAK’s story is one of steady specialisation. From a focused start in smoke vents and domed rooflights,
the company has grown into a full-range manufacturer, twice joining larger European roofing groups along the way
and, since 2020, finding a long-term home in a family-owned Finnish group dedicated to exactly this field.
AWAK is founded, specialising in smoke vents and domed rooflights.
AWAK signs a capital agreement with ICOPAL S.A. and begins operating within the international ICOPAL group.
The head office and factory move from Komorniki to Buk; AWAK obtains CE certification for its smoke vents.
AWAK secures its first NRO/Broof(t1) classification report and completes its first installations to that standard.
Following the merger of ICOPAL and Braas Monier, AWAK becomes part of BMI Group, then Europe’s largest manufacturer of flat- and pitched-roof systems.
AWAK joins Finland’s KERA Group, where it continues today in a family-owned network dedicated entirely to this domain.
Through each of these changes the essentials have stayed the same: the same factory in Buk, a stable specialist team and an unwavering focus on smoke ventilation and daylighting. The group affiliations brought scale and reach, while the day-to-day expertise remained in-house - which is why customers who first specified AWAK years ago still come back today.
